Statement on the use of AI
It seems impossible to avoid AI as it becomes embedded in the software we use every day.
However, as a creative practitioner, I believe it should be used as a tool to assist creativity, not to take it from human hands.
In my editing work I use assistive AI, as it is embedded in software such as Word and search engines such as Google, and professional tools such as Grammarly, which can highlight issues. This can speed up the process and be of benefit to both my clients and myself. But there’s is no substitute for the human eye or experience. So, I don’t use any generative AI such as ChatGPT, and I will never run a client’s work through any AI software. I’m not feeding the machine!
I also ask clients to sign an editorial agreement, to affirm that their work is created by human endeavour rather than AI-generated.
If you would like to know more about how I use, and don’t use, AI in my work then please get in touch.
